Moments when I ask... "is this my life?"

Well, on Thursday I will have lived in Germany for 2 months! I can't believe I have already been here 2 months! There are many times that I reflect on my new life here and think that wow I am really doing this. There are things I now do that were never possible for me in Michigan. There are things that just seem simply surreal.
The trips to the bakery, it never fails to make me reflect on my new life. As I stand in the small shops staring at rolls, and bread, tortes, and deserts I think " wow, I am really about to pick out the most delicious snack and lunch breads for my family." Abigail now eats fresh croissants every morning with berries and yogurt. Ethan loves the breads sliced for toast and lunches. I just can't stop trying new rolls (yes I can't wait till school starts cause I need to get running again). I have also been seen around town with a baguette sticking out of my back pack, something that just seems crazy to me.
The day trips, and planned extended vacations. I am always in shock as we load up the car to picnic in a beer garden on top of a castle, or as of yesterday walking the city streets in France. I can't get over the things that are now at our finger tips to do. We have already been able to explore little shops, castles, forest, parks, and the daily life. Yesterday, I just kept looking at Scott, saying how amazing this was. As Ethan sipped a coco at a quaint bistro I was in heaven. As we stumbled upon a handmade bag and hair accessories shop for little girls I was shocked that this was something I could experience.
Finally my new house. I continue to feel more blessed and more grateful for the life I live inside the walls of my house. I love watching my children play in the gardens, and laugh with them as they use watering cans to cool each other off( even Fern likes this game). I feel amazed that I even live in a house with 3 patios and two gardens. Outside space is such a blessing in Germany. I can't get enough of my new attic bedroom, every time I walk up there! It is just amazing.
Every place we have ever moved has brought us immense gifts. We have always felt blessed, and this move is no exception. We all keep saying "Wow." Yes, this is are new life, with crazy new experiences, with simple things that make us smile, and adventures that we will always remember.

  1. So glad that you guys have had such a great two months! Enjoy every minute, time flies! I can't believe we've been here 32 months (was just thinking about that last night). Life here is wonderful, simple and full of opportunities. I love hearing about all of your family's adventures!
