New Friends For The Kids
We are loving this neighborhood, there are kids everywhere. However encouraging playing and introducing yourself in German has been hard for the kids. They have been so worried about the language needed to play. But low and behold they have made friends. A couple of days ago some girls came to the gate and asked to play. The kids were so excited. They decided to play Fussball the universal game here. Then the next day they actually came back again. It has been lovely to have something to look forward to, but than the kids also met a boy and girl across the street the same age, they speak no English which is good. It makes the kids practice German. Yesterday was the best though they made a ton of new friends. They were playing with 10 or more kids. The only negative was a couple boys at first made fun of Ethan for being an American. Ethan struggled with how to handle the teasing, but as with all teasing as soon as Ethan stopped paying attention it was over and they all played for an hour. I know true friendships will take time but as a mom, I love seeing the kids smile again! I love seeing them laugh with friends.

SO excited for them (and YOU). It is a huge step towards making this your home. The teasing comes and goes and is a lot more prevalent here than back in the States. But, it looks like your kiddo had the right approach - good for him! Here's hoping this trend continues and that YOU get to meet some new friends too, I have no doubt you will! Enjoy the break in the rain... who knows how long it will last. haha!
